The current administration of President Nana Akufo-Addo has unveiled advanced plans to construct a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Hub named 'Pharma Park' in Ghana, according to Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Herbert Krapa.
He stated that the government knows that pharmaceutical manufacturing and the pharmaceutical sector are industries that may be developed in order to shift the emphasis and attention away from the typical growth poles of cocoa and gold.
He said that under this effort, the pharmaceutical business would collaborate with the Pharmaceutical Chamber to establish a Pharma Park in the industrial zone, which would make land available for the pharmaceutical industry to establish production facilities.
He was speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at Prime Pharmacy's ultra-modern 14th retail location's ceremonial opening.
Prime Pharmacy, which has been in business for 14 years, is one of Ghana's major pharmaceutical merchants.
The Egyptian High Commissioner to Ghana, Aldesouky Mahmoud Youssef, and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Herbert Krapah, were among those who attended the occasion.
"These are what we call strategic anchor sectors, and pharmaceutical development is one of the most significant parts of those strategic anchor industries."
The government is committed to assisting in the development of other businesses, particularly manufacturing and pharmaceutical manufacture, in order to help create employment and provide value to the resources available locally.
