The Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) has designated July 1, 2022 as the commencement date for an obligatory eye exam for applicants for a learner's licence, driver's licence, or renewal of a driver's licence.

A qualified ophthalmologist or optometrist must certify the eye test findings, which must be given to the DVLA in line with Regulation 29 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012. (L.I. 2180).

The DVLA, in collaboration with the Ghana Optometric Association (GOA), is implementing the policy to guarantee that only reliable eye test results are given to the Authority.

According to a DVLA document obtained by the Ghana News Agency in Tema, only people with good vision would be allowed to drive, and road traffic will be restricted.
