According to rumors in Argentina, former Atletico Madrid star Eduardo Salvio is on the run from police after reportedly running over his ex-wife.
Salvio now plays for Boca Juniors in Argentina's Primera Division, and has previously played for Atletico Madrid and Benfica in Portugal.
Argentinian store The 31-year-old, who has 14 caps for Argentina, is accused of driving his car at former partner Magali Aravena, according to Ole.
Salvio is seen sensationally driving away from police, who have pledged he 'will not escape' in dramatic footage posted to social media. 'Boca player Eduardo Salvio is on the run after attempting to run over his wife,' according to the video's caption.
Aravena and Salvio recently divorced following a ten-year marriage in which they had two children.
Salvio, 35, reported an incident in the early hours of Thursday morning, in which he reportedly drove his automobile towards Aravena in the Puerto Madero neighborhood.
'Prosecutors are working to collect evidence,' said a source close to the probe. Salvio will not be able to elude the cops. They found out what transpired thanks to his wife's complaint.'
'The woman went over to speak with her husband, who was in his car with another woman,' according to a police spokesman. Mrs Aravena was hit by the culprit as he drove forward.'
'We were contacted by municipal police, and found a woman with trauma to her lower right leg,' said Buenos Aires ambulance head Alberto Crescenti. The damage, though, was minor, and she was not transported to the hospital.'
Salvio joined Spanish heavyweights Atletico Madrid in 2010, where he won two Europa League titles and scored 10 goals in 69 games across all competitions before joining Benfica.
In Portugal, he played 62 times in 266 matches in all competitions, winning 14 trophies, including five Primeira Liga crowns, two Portuguese Cups, and four Portuguese League Cups.
Salvio won the league title and the Copa Argentina in his debut season after returning to Argentina with Boca in July 2019. During his stint with the Blue and Golds, he has 13 goals in 44 games across all competitions.
