Dr. Rasheed Draman, Executive Director of the African Centre for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA), says he is not shocked by the Supreme Court verdict barring James Gyakye Quayson from running for Member of Parliament for Assin-North.
According to him, he did not expect a different conclusion after the talks in the media previous to the verdict. In an interview with GBC News, Dr. Draman stated that until a bye-election is held, the numbers game in Parliament with relation to Parliamentary activity will not alter.
He regarded the decision as a major stumbling block in the country's legislative process that should have been avoided.
Dr. Draman recommended political parties to educate their candidates on the need of avoiding the Assiniboine situation.
