Some residents of Assin North constituency, when interviewed by TV3, praised the 2020 NDC parliamentary candidates for his initiatives in their constituency and providing a promise to train 500 youth in the area. They were not excited that Mr. Quayson was temporarily put out of Parliament.
On TV3 morning show, The Keypoints, Dzifa Bampoe sought to discuss the Supreme Court's decision and what next.
The NPP representative on the show explained that the action of the Assin North NDC parliamentary candidate could be attributed to contempt because he did not abide by the initial high court ruling and still went about carrying out usual parliamentary duties.
According to Lawyer Abraham Amaliba, the parliamentary appeal ends at the court of appeal and not the high Court. He further exclaimed that Wednesday's ruling seemed to be in bad faith and the ruling seemed to attack parliamentary representation.
The people of Assin, on the TV3 , admitted that procedurally the 2020 NDC parliamentary candidate did not properly process his filing because his documents delayed in Canada and Mr. Quayson could have done the needful if he received the documents on time. However, the NPP MP said he was happy that the Assin North residents admitted that there was a wrong ruling but the comments of the residents would not count since they are not party of the litigants.
According to Lawyer Martin Kpebu,he does not want to look at the merits of the substantive case since it is in the court and he does not have evidence of private conversations. He explained that he would look at the ruling from one side and the court could still scrutinize.
