Jose Mourinho has written Nemanja Matic an emotional note following his announcement that he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season. Matic's contract was set to expire at the conclusion of this season, but the Reds had the option to extend it for another year if they so desired. On Good Friday, the 33-year-old acknowledged his resignation through Instagram.
Matic wrote in the post: "After much deliberation, I have decided that this will be my final season with Manchester United. My decision has been communicated to the board, the manager, and the players.
"It has been a tremendous honor and joy to play for such a prestigious club. Thank you so much to the fans for your everlasting support. I'm going to give it my all till the end of the season to help my teammates finish strong." Matic received an outpouring of support on social media, notably from his former manager, Jose Mourinho."Proud to be part of your history," the current AS Roma boss remarked in reaction to his announcement. Before both individuals joined United, Matic won the Premier League title under Mourinho's supervision in the 2014/15 season.
