Ghana was granted independence in 1957 and declared to be a free country for all time.

However, after expressing that, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was not elected president of Ghana. Following Ghana's independence, Queen Elizabeth II became the country's president.

From 1957 to 1960, while Ghana was a sovereign state with a constitutional monarchy, Elizabeth II served as Queen of Ghana. It's the same as being president of Ghana to be a queen of the country. Before Ghana became a republic in 1960, she was elected President. Her constitutional powers in Ghana were delegated to a governor-general because she was also queen of other Commonwealth realms, including the United Kingdom.

Queen Elizabeth has long had a soft spot for Ghana, and she even paid a visit to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah when their lives were in danger.

Ghana adopted a new constitution in 1960, replacing the former British monarchy.

Following that, on July 1, 1960. At Midnight, Monarch Elizabeth declared herself no longer the queen and President of Ghana.
