Iyanna "Yaya" Mayweather, Floyd Mayweather's 21-year-old daughter, has admitted to stabbing Lapattra Jacobs, the mother of one of the rapper NBA YoungBoy's children, in 2020.
In Harris County Court in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday, Mayweather pled guilty to aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon. She faced a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, but will most likely receive only six years of probation, which may include community service and restitution.
Mayweather admitted to stabbing Lapattra Jacobs "with a knife" "unlawfully, purposefully, and unknowingly" causing "bodily injury to Lapattra Jacobs," with a court hearing set for June 16, 2022. She agreed to give up her right to appeal.
Why did Lapattra Jacobs get stabbed by Yaya Mayweather?
Mayweather appeared at NBA YoungBoy's house in April 2020, when he was 19 years old, accompanied by Jacobs. Mayweather allegedly told Jacobs to leave after claiming to be the rapper's fiancee. Mayweather stabbed Jacobs twice with two different knives as an altercation escalated in the kitchen.
Mayweather said Jacobs had tugged her hair outside the house, even though the two had never met. Jacobs was laying on the floor when EMTs came, and she was brought to the hospital, where she quickly recovered.
"The case between Iyanna and the State was settled. Iyanna will be on deferred adjudication for six years, after which she will have no felony convictions and the case will be dismissed, according to the arrangement "Kent Schaffer, Mayweather's lawyer, stated. "She is eligible for the delayed adjudication to expire after two years if she continues to behave well."
"We believe Iyanna was defending herself after being attacked, but we felt this was the safest course of action for her. This is particularly significant given her boyfriend's and bodyguards' refusal to testify, owing to their legal issues."
