The vacant coaching role needed to be filled for the world cup playoffs against the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Due to the abysmal performance at the African Cup of Nations, not many people expected Ghana to do so well at the world cup playoff yet they defied all odds and qualified at the expense of Nigeria in Abuja.
The four-member technical team which included: Chris Houghton (Technical Advisor) Otto Addo (Head coach), George Boateng (Assistant Coach) and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani (Assistant coach) did an incredible job. Coach Otto Addo received a lot of praise after that stellar performance and many think he should lead the team to the world cup in Qatar. At the moment, Otto is working as an assistant coach with BorussiaDortmund. Will he take a full time job as the Black Stars coach? I’m sure it is something he has been thinking about.
Chris Houghton is considered as an experienced coach, having trained a lot of players in the English Premiership. He has coached Newcastle United, Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion. Currently, he has no job and it seems he will also be a good fit for the role.
