Premier League action returned on Saturday with Manchester United still playing their cards for a top-four finish this season. Time is gradually running out for them and with all their firepower, they still lag in terms of consistency and performance.
After dropping points at Goodison Park against Everton last week, Ralf Rangnick made clear the need for his team to not drop a single point in the next seven games if they should hope for a top-four finish at the end of the season.
Onto Old Trafford once again as they welcomed opponents Norwich who is battling to save themselves from the relegation axe at the end of the season.
Manchester United have just taken one win group from their last seven games in all competitions. A win against the canaries would do much to keep them in the race for a top-four finish.
The Red Devils started the game on a high tempo, dictating and controlling play in the middle of the park. They earned two goals courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo before the first half ended, though Norwich managed to put one back before the whistle.
The visitors equalized a few minutes after the start of the second half and United struggled to put together and repeat their first-half performance. Not until Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up and slammed in a free-kick from the edge of the box to give United the win and complete his hat-trick.
With Arsenal losing 1-0 to Southampton, Man united has now overtaken them from 7th to 5th just behind Tottenham in fourth. Tottenham themselves saw defeat at the hands of Brighton and it turned out to be a crucial win for Man United
