Andre Ayew, the captain of the Black Stars, was named to the AFC Champions League's Team of Matchday three for his crucial contribution in Al Sadd's victory over Al-Wehdat.

When Al Sadd crushed the Jordanese team 5-2 on Friday evening, Ayew scored his first goal in the Asian Champions League group stages.

Former Spain player Santi Cazorla was put up by Ayew in the 58th minute to draw Al Sadd level after they had trailed 2-1 at halftime.

Al-Wehdat scored twice in two minutes to go ahead before the break, canceling out Akram Afif's penalty goal in the 23rd minute. Two minutes later, Ayew scored for the hosts after being set up by Brazilian midfielder Guilherme to turn the game around for Al Sadd.

Rodrigo Tabata and Mohammed Al Bayati scored two more goals to give Al Sadd their first three points in the AFC Champions League after two draws and defeats.

With 15 league goals and one assist in 21 games, Ayew was the second highest scorer in the Qatari Stars League.
