If Zinedine Zidane is appointed manager of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), El Nacional reports that the Frenchman will want to sign Real Madrid's Federico Valverde.

According to the report, the Parisian giants have made the French footballing legend a key target for the managerial position.

Despite tremendous expenditure over the last decade or so, the Ligue 1 side has yet to win the Champions League. This time, Mauricio Pochettino's squad was knocked out of the competition in the Round of 16, losing to Real Madrid.

Zidane is the only manager in the history of the game to win the Champions League three times in a row. Between 2016 and 2018, he did it with Los Blancos. PSG think that the French icon can repeat his win at the Parc des Princes in the European championship.

If he takes over at PSG, the French icon will reportedly aim to bolster his midfield, with Valverde being his top target.

The 23-year-old Urguayan international is widely considered as one of Europe's greatest young midfielders. He has yet to establish himself as an undisputed starter at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Valverde has been greatly hampered by the presence of Casemiro, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric at Real Madrid. If Zinedine Zidane joins PSG in the summer, Valverde may be ready to rejoin with his former boss in Paris in search of regular first-team action.

Valverde, who has already been capped 38 times for his country at the age of 23, is one of Europe's brightest young midfield talents. According to El Nacional, Paris Saint-Germain may have to pay €100 million for his services.

Should Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo join PSG if Zinedine Zidane takes over?

Due to a lack of first-team football, the Real Madrid youngster has yet to reach his full potential.

This season, the former Pearol midfielder has appeared in 18 games in all competitions, with only three of them being starts. With Modric, Kroos, and Casemiro still at the height of their games, the 23-year-old should be thinking about his long-term future. If Zidane is offered the PSG job, a transfer to Paris would be a no-brainer for the Montevideo native.

The Uruguayan's groomer would be the 49-year-old, who knows the midfielder better than any other manager.
