Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba was furious with teammate and captain Harry Maguire after the England player accidently kicked him in the head, causing blood.

United defeated relegation-threatened Norwich 3-2 at Old Trafford to keep their hopes alive of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League.

United were pegged back by Norwich after leading 2-0, and the anxiety in the stadium was evident.

The players were agitated as a result of the tension, with Pogba seeming enraged at his captain when Maguire accidently knocked him in the head while diving for the ball at a corner.

After Alex Telles had swung the ball in, the event occurred at the hour mark. Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored a hat-trick on the day, rushed to meet the ball, but Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul comfortably collected it.

Maguire, who was diving for the ball with Ronaldo, tripped over an equally flying Norwich defender.

As he dropped to the ground, his right leg sprang up and hit Pogba on the back of his head as he landed.

Before a United physician could check the player, the midfielder instinctively clenched his fist in anguish. Pogba was visibly upset while being evaluated, looking furiously into the distance.

Prior to the medic's arrival, Ronaldo worked as a mediator, attempting to calm down Pogba, who was visibly upset with Maguire. While the French international was motioning over to Maguire, who had returned to United's half, the Portuguese was seen placing his arm around Pogba.

The event drew a lot of attention on social media, with Maguire, who has had a tough season, appearing to be the target of a lot of the jokes.

'Harry Maguire has managed to kick Paul Pogba in the head and draw blood,' one source stated. 'One week he was yelling at his own players for handball, the next he was kicking others in the head.'

Others, meanwhile, opted to make the situation into a wrestling match, with one claiming that 'Maguire struck Pogba with a scorpion kick.'

Another said, 'Maguire deserved the Puskas award for the scorpion kick to Pogba.'

Ralf Rangnick's team, on the other hand, had happy families at the conclusion of a fantastic afternoon in which top four opponents Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal both lost points.

United are now in fifth place, one game ahead of Arsenal in sixth place and three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
