Barcelona expects to sign four players to new contracts this week.
This week, Barcelona is due to speak with the representatives of defenders Ronald Araujo and Sergi Roberto, midfielder Gavi, and forward Ousmane Dembele.
Barcelona has prioritized renewal operations now that the team is out of all cup tournaments, according to the front page news of Mundo Deportivo. While they continue to focus on Araujo, Gavi, and Dembele, they haven't forgotten about Roberto.
In the instance of Araujo, it has already been revealed that the defender has agreed to a new contract until 2026, increasing his termination clause to €1000 million (€1 billion).
In terms of Gavi, both Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff are expected to intensify negotiations with the player's entourage. The 17-year-old, who has developed into a key player under Xavi, is under contract until 2023 with a €50 million release clause.
The parties involved are still at odds over the midfielder's asking price, but the player has stated that he would eventually sign a new contract because he has no interest in listening to offers from other clubs.
Dembele, on the other hand, is closer to renewing his contract than he is to departing. While no news on whether a deal has been finalized, Alemany's recent meeting with Moussa Sissoko, the forward's agent, may have put things in perspective.
"He can continue for us as long as [any agreement] stays within the club's sustainable salary ceiling and is proportionate to his teammates," Alemany was quoted earlier this month as saying.
Finally, Barcelona is hoping that a solution will be found for Sergi Roberto that will benefit all parties involved.
Roberto's current contract, as one of the team's longest-serving members, expires at the end of the season, and the club wants to meet with his agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, this week.
Since the 30-year-old has been healing from his injuries, negotiations have been frozen since Christmas. As of today, Barcelona continues to press Roberto to accept greater compensation cuts, which is why no deal has been reached.
My thoughts are known by both the club and the player. The club and the player must then come to an agreement," Xavi remarked of the scenario.
Roberto is more likely to go in the summer, and despite reports that Atletico Madrid is keeping a close eye on the situation, he could as well stay if the meeting this week yields any results.
