After speaking about his experiences with narcotics and marijuana in an interview on Asaase Radio, actor Majid Michel disclosed that officers from the Narcotic Control Commission arrested and interviewed him.
According to Abeiku Santana of Okay FM, the Commission pulled him up at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, searched his residence, and then sent him to their headquarters for interrogation.
"Well, if you acknowledge you've done drugs, it's possible you're still hiding some." If they find even one roll of cannabis in your home, the entire house will be seized. On Thursday, Majid Michel stated, "They educated me a lot." He said that the authorities told him that his belongings, particularly his cars, would have been seized if they suspected he was transporting drugs. Majid Michel, speaking on Asaase Radio, urged the government to legalize marijuana, claiming that unlike other substances such as cocaine, marijuana does not endanger people's lives.
"I've never heard of anyone overdosing on marijuana... I've made things out of marijuana. I've done cocaine, LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide), and other things that you wouldn't be able to pronounce if I told you right now."
"It was years ago, and I didn't have to strive to overcome it." Maybe it's because of the smoke...maybe that's why smoking isn't the greatest for your health, but I don't see anything wrong with brewing or drinking it. "Are you a tea drinker?" However, he has emphasized that before legalizing it, the government must exercise caution and learn from other countries about how the cannabis has been utilized for various reasons.
"I am entirely in favor of it," he has stated, "but before anything is legalized, the government must ensure that they are prepared to accept responsibility and must exhaust the implications that would result from the legalization of 'marijuana' before making a decision."
Meanwhile, Majid Michel claims that the Commission misinterpreted his remark. He stated that all of his drug encounters were in the past. Despite his incarceration, the actor stated that he has no regrets about speaking openly about his drug experiences.
According to Majid, some journalists and news organizations should be held accountable for their coverage of the story.
The actor said that the Commission misinterpreted him as a result of some of the media reports. "I advised the Commission that some of the media should be held accountable," he said. He contended that they chose him based on the caption and headlines.
