On Sunday, Karim Benzema capped yet another incredible Real Madrid comeback, this time defeating Sevilla 3-2 after the Spanish league leaders battled back from a two-goal deficit.

The La Liga triumph came only days after Real completed an incredible comeback against Chelsea in the Champions League, with Benzema's extra-time goal securing a 5-4 aggregate victory.

With Sevilla and Barcelona both starting the day 12 points behind, and Barca with two games in hand, a defeat would have given the following pack new hope.

Instead, goals from Rodrygo, Nacho, and Benzema in the 92nd minute extend Madrid's lead to 15 points in La Liga with six games remaining.

"It's tough to comprehend why we played like that in the first half and, to be honest, how we played like that in the second," Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid's head coach, remarked.

"We looked drained throughout the first half. The passion was breathtaking in the second."

Sevilla had taken the lead at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan after an Ivan Rakitic free-kick and Erik Lamela's clever finish.

In the 25th minute, after Luka Modric had taken down Papu Gomez, Rakitic gave Sevilla the lead with a looping free-kick into the corner.

After Tecatito lured Thibaut Courtois out and left the net open, Lamela doubled the lead four minutes later.

Rodrygo pulled a goal back in the 50th minute thanks to a fantastic backheel from Vinicius Jr for Dani Carvajal.

In the 74th minute, Vinicius felt he had tied the game at 2-2, but the goal was ruled out because the Brazilian had handled the ball with his arm rather than his chest, according to the referee.

Rakitic headed away a corner for Madrid, only for Carvajal to drive to the line and pull back for Nacho to finish.

Then, in the 92nd minute, Benzema made yet another miraculous comeback, receiving Rodrygo's ball, controlling and blasting past three Sevilla defenders on the line.

Benzema has 44 goals in 46 games this season, including 15 in his past ten outings.
