The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Tuesday, 12th April, 2022, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Savanna College of Education, Daboya, at the Council Chamber, North Campus, UEW.
The signing of the MoU formalises the collaborative arrangements between the two institutions to roll out a four-year Basic Education degree programme with options in Early Grade Education, Upper Primary Education, and Junior High Education.
As part of the agreement, the Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD), UEW, would provide support for capacity building and mentorship to the Savannah College of Education, Daboya in the area of administration, teaching, learning and research.

The programme, tailored to meet the required academic and professional standards of regular students as well as teaching and administrative staff of Savannah College of Education, Daboya, would be run on the College’s Campus while UEW shall issue certificates upon successful completion of their four-year studies.
The Vice-Chancellor of UEW, Prof. Mawutor Avoke, assured the visitors that his outfit would ensure that the partnership would be mutually beneficial. He indicated UEW’s determination to support the Savannah College of Education, Daboya, to deliver quality programmes.
The Registrar of UEW, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq., indicated that the mentorship relationship will not be one of master-servant or lecturer-student, but rather one of mutual respect, goodwill, and cooperation.

The Director of ITECPD, Prof. George Dandy Dampson, stating the purpose for the MoU, commended Savannah College of Education, Daboya, for ensuring an adequate complement of supporting staff, infrastructural facilities and other logistics to ensure the effective implementation of the four-year programme.
The Ag. Principal, Savanna College of Education, Daboya, Dr. Ibrahim Musah Ekpampo, on his part, lauded UEW for producing competent professional teachers for all levels of education in the country and beyond over a long period, adding that it is why all the major actors in the Savanna Region chose UEW when the idea of partnering with a tertiary institution for the programme arose.
Dr. Ekpampo was accompanied to UEW by the Ag. College Secretary, Mr. Muhammed Mahmud Mukhtar and a representative from Savanna Regional House of Chiefs, Mr. Sam Adam Bingowma.
