Asamoah Gyan, the all-time leading scorer for the Black Stars, has expressed his wish to play for Asante Kotoko if he decides to return to the game.
Gyan was a fan of the club since he was a child, but he has yet to wear the famed red jersey during his playing career. Before the start of the season, the forward was generally expected to sign with the Porcupine Warriors, but he instead signed with Legon Cities. Gyan, however, professed his admiration for the Ghana Premier League side while confessing the Kumasi-based side will be his next club if he wants to return to the local scene, speaking on Joy FM in the early hours of Monday as part of his media interaction ahead of his book launch. "If I had to return [to football], I would like to play for Asante Kotoko." Gyan stated, "I am a tremendous supporter of the team."
After 25 games, Kotoko are the league leaders in the 2021/22 Premier League season, with an eight-point lead at the top of the table.
