Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that one of his twins died after girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez gave birth to them.
After their newborn baby died suddenly, the football icon, 37, addressed the world about his and Georgina Rodriguez's anguish.
In October of last year, Cristiano and Georgina, both 28, revealed they were expecting twins, a boy and a girl.
However, the Manchester United star informed tonight that their baby son has passed suddenly.
Despite the "worst grief" of their loss, he claimed his baby daughter is "giving us the strength to survive."
"It is with our deepest regret that we must announce that our baby child has passed away," Ronaldo said on social media.
It is the most excruciating pain that any parent can experience.
Only our baby girl's birth has given us the strength to live this moment with some optimism and happiness.
"We want to express our gratitude to the doctors and nurses for their outstanding care and assistance."
We are absolutely crushed by this loss, and we respectfully want privacy during this terrible time.
"Delighted to announce we are expecting twins," he and Georgina captioned a lovely photo of themselves holding their baby scans in October.
We're bursting at the seams with love and can't wait to meet you."
Ronaldo is the father of Cristiano Jr., 11, Eva and Mateo, four, and Alana Martina, three, whom Georgina gave birth to.
He's now a father of five, thanks to his newborn daughter.
Georgina met the Portugal sensation in 2016 while working for £10 an hour in a Gucci store in Madrid.
She is said to have captured his attention in the VIP section of a Dolce & Gabbana event.
Georgina has followed the five-time Ballon d'Or winner from Madrid to Turin and then Manchester as he transitioned from Real Madrid to Juventus and eventually Manchester United.
She was recently photographed wearing a pink outfit and driving an old school yellow Corvette.
She raved on Instagram in March this year about Ronaldo being the "greatest dad in the world," along with charming photos of their cute family.
