Mason Mount has confessed that he and Jorginho "laughed" at Timo Werner's work-rate during the FA Cup semi-final triumph over Crystal Palace on Sunday. Since joining the club in the summer of 2020, the German attacker has been chastised for his lack of output, scoring 22 goals and registering 21 assists in 84 games.
Few, on the other hand, could question the 26-year-commitment, as well as the difficulties his blistering pace causes opposition defense
Werner was recently reintroduced to the starting lineup, scoring twice in a 6-0 win against Southampton before netting in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, bringing his season total to 10 goals and 6 assists in only 19 appearances.s.Werner has often appeared more at ease playing alongside Kai Havertz and Mason Mount in a more fluid frontline, with Romelu Lukaku battling to justify his own astronomical price tag.
Mount, who scored the second goal in a 2-0 win over Palace at Wembley, said that he and teammate Jorginho were laughing at Werner's incredible resolve to race and track back after squandering an opportunity with the game virtually over.Mount remarked, "He's been terrific when he came in at Southampton and then in Madrid."
"You can tell he's a high-energy person. He missed a chance in the second half, but on the bench, myself and Jorginho were laughing because he sprinted all the way back to the halfway line and made a tackle. That's exactly what we're about. I'm happy for him since he offers everything. He gave me a small assist, and he could have had another, as well as a couple of goals. He's been outstanding in the last two games."
