The problems of FC Barcelona may have been lightly weighed since Xavi took them on some winning streaks. However, it was only a matter of time for reality to catch with Barca and the fans. In the recent matches, what they are witnessing are practical symptoms of the team’s situation. Their financial distress and substandard quality glare at everyone. Will the situation change anytime soon?
Koeman’s exit only eliminated one out of the many problems in the club. The main problem financial crisis still remains and extends its roots across all the facets of Barcelona. A clear example is the daily reminder on the pitch. When the players on the field are helpless and supporters look at the bench for game changers, they get hopeless. How did Barca lower its standard this much?
If not for money issues, some players could have been shipped out without a blink. For instance, Braithwaite, Memphis, Lenglet, Umtiti, Adama prove over and over they don’t deserve to wear the Red and Blue jersey. To an extent, it is this same issue that’s preventing the club from doing away with Dembele for better winger options, going for quality defenders, and signing a top striker.
When Barca wins, it masks a lot of issues. Nevertheless, this is the reality and we cannot overlook it and believe some magical moments. It’ll take time to turn things around, especially when the problem is about finances.
