A mortar attack on Somalia's parliament, which injured at least seven persons, including bodyguards, has been denounced by the United Nations.
Al-Shabab, an Islamist terrorist organisation, claimed responsibility for the incident, which occurred as MPs were preparing to pick speakers to the upper and lower chambers of parliament later this month.
This should result in the long-awaited election of a new president.
The UN stated in a statement that it will stand with Somalis in their attempts to conclude the electoral process.
