Mabel Mawusi Dogah, a promising female goalkeeper, was one of the seven persons who drowned in the Volta Lake last Thursday while travelling from the Volta to the Eastern Regions.
When the unfortunate tragedy occurred on the lake, the Mepe Ladies goalkeeper was travelling with her mother and sister from Dzemeni to the Kwahu Afram Plains North for the Easter holidays.
The canoe in which they were travelling was caught in a storm and flipped, killing all seven people on board, including the young player, whose body was discovered on Sunday, April 17 and buried right away.
Thirteen additional passengers were rescued from the boat.
"Our condolences to the whole family," the Volta Regional Football Association stated in a statement after Dogah's death was confirmed.
