Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, has stated that the E-Levy law, which they aim to implement, has presented some obstacles.
He believes that certain discriminatory aspects of the legislation need to be addressed, and that one of the characteristics of a good tax is that it is not discriminatory.
He stated that if a salary is paid through a bank account, it would not be subject to the E-levy, but if it is paid using mobile money, it will be subject to the E-levy, which he called as discriminatory.
"A few discriminatory components within what's happening are some of the difficulties we've observed with the law as it's been passed, which we plan to take up."
