Since joining Xavi Hernandez’s side on a free transfer from Arsenal in January, the Gabonese striker has surpassed club legends in goal scoring.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been in great form since joining Barcelona from Arsenal at the end of the January transfer window.
The Gunners sacrificed any transfer fee in order to make the deal permanent, thus the 32-year-old traveled to Camp Nou on an 18-month contract.
Arsenal were eager to facilitate his permanent exit without paying a transfer fee due to the considerable savings on Aubameyang’s salary.
Nevertheless, Aubameyang has already found top form at the Blaugrana, and his goal against Levante on Sunday was his tenth for the club since joining just over two months ago.
The Gabonese forward has reached the milestone in just 14 games, including two substitute appearances.
Indeed, the former Borussia Dortmund striker failed to score in any of his first three appearances for the club, with Xavi inserting him as a substitute in the final half-hour of his first two La Liga games to ease him back into match fitness.
That means the striker has scored 10 goals in his previous 11 games, which is a record at Barcelona and means he has reached double figures quicker than multiple club legends such as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Of course, Messi’s debut came at the start of his career, and it took him 38 games to reach that statistic, whereas Suarez required 24 games to reach that mark for the club.
Aubameyang has also reached that total quicker than David Villa (18 games) and Patrick Kluivert (26 games), while Samuel Eto’o took 14 games to reach that milestone.
Only three players at Barcelona have scored ten goals in a shorter period of time: Ronaldo Nazario (nine matches), Romario (nine), and Laszlo Kubala (nine) (13).
