Tamale Technical University (TaTU) hosted the Northern Regional Director of the Department of Urban Roads, Ing. Kwasi A. Darku, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Ing. Hudu, the Regional Quantity Surveyor, was with him.

According to the Director, the visit to the technical university was in response to an earlier request by University Management to meet with them to begin conversations on potential cooperation with the Faculty of the Built Environment and other areas of interest.

The Engineer expressed the department of Urban Roads' commitment to assisting the University, particularly in the repair of their internal road network.

He bemoaned the slow rate of completion on the TaTU bypass, which will connect motorists to the Wurishe settlements and, as a result, lessen traffic flow into the University.

He stated that the Department of Urban Roads, both at the local and national levels, pays more attention to educational institutions' infrastructural needs and, as a result, reminded the University administration to submit their road network deficit request to his office for subsequent submission to the national office for further consideration.

He stated that his company has considered numerous TaTU students for internships and other academic tasks over the years.

The director closed by assuring University Management of his intention to sign a partnership pact with the university.

Prof. Abass Braimah, the Vice-Chancellor, indicated the University's willingness to cooperate closely with the Department of Urban Roads, particularly in addressing the University's appalling road network.

He stated that TaTU personnel and students are grateful for the asphalting of the major route into the university's main campus.

He acknowledged the University's gratitude to Urban Roads for assisting TaTU students throughout their industrial attachments.

He promised to promptly guarantee that the University submits its road infrastructure deficit to his organization for action.

Prof. Bashiru I.I. Saeed, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Alhaji Iddrisu Yakubu, Registrar, Mr. Abdallah Adam, Director of Physical Development, and Mr Osman Mubarik, Director of Public Affairs of the University were also in attendance.
