Neymar Jr. of Paris Saint-Germain has retaliated against former Liverpool left-back Fabio Aurelio for his remarks against him.

In an exclusive interview with GOAL, Aurelio stated that if he were in Neymar's situation, he would be devastated at not winning the Ballon d'Or.

The 30-year-old winger joined PSG from Barcelona for a world-record €222 million transfer price in 2017. In addition to winning the Ballon d'Or, he was anticipated to lead Les Parisiens to European glory. That has not been the case, though.

In response to Aurelio's remarks on the Brazilian captain's failure in Paris, the 30-year-old forward wrote on Instagram (via GOAL):

"I'm sick of these ex-players who simply open their mouths to spout nonsense. He spent the entire five-minute interview talking about other people's lives. If you want to make a point, make a point. But it's not feasible to talk like that."

Aurelio's view on PSG star Neymar's dismal career originates from the fact that he is a fantastic player in his own right. His lack of intensity and application, on the other hand, has cost him a regular status among the finest in football.

More specifically, and in response to Neymar's failure to win the Ballon d'Or, Auerlio had said:

"I constantly say that if I were him, I would be dissatisfied." The fact that he has never won a Ballon d'Or seems strange given his objectives and the quality and talent he possesses. He meets all of the requirements, but I'm not sure what went wrong. I don't know if there are any things more important to him than the game."

Aurelio went on to mention Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, both of whom have won 12 Ballons d'Or.

"You see, Ronaldo and Messi were at the top level for ten or fifteen years and you never heard about difficulties off the field, but Neymar is always involved in stuff like this."

He should avoid those situations because he is capable of incredible feats."

Former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard believes the Brazilian captain and PSG attacker can improve his conditioning and become a better player.

"At his age, it might come back to bother him if he doesn't take care of himself." He's still Neymar, capable of surprising you, but he's not as fit as he once was."

Since joining PSG, Neymar has had an injury-plagued run. He has only played 140 games for the club in all competitions in nearly five years, scoring 98 goals and assisting on 58 occasions.
