Freiburg traveled into the principal German Cup FINAL in the club's set of experiences with a 3-1 triumph at second-level Hamburg in Tuesday's elimination round, with every one of their goals coming in the main half.
Bundesliga side Freiburg ruled Hamburg, who have spent the last four seasons in the subsequent division, with Nils Petersen, Nicolas Hoefler and Vincenzo Grifo scoring in the opening 35 minutes.
Hamburg dealt with an encouragement goal with two minutes left when Robert Glatzel headed in.
"It's unbelievable - we've recorded history, Freiburg has never dealt with this," said Hoefler.
"We can in any case accomplish a ton, I can't muster the energy to care who we play in the last, we simply need to win it."
There will be another German Cup champ when the last is held at Berlin's Olympic Stadium on May 21.
Neither Freiburg, nor Union Berlin and RB Leipzig who meet in Wednesday's other elimination round, have recently lifted the prize.
Hamburg were the main club in the elimination rounds to have previously won the cup, with the remainder of their three triumphs coming during the fallen goliaths' magnificence days of the 1980s.

Glatzel scored a merited late relief for Hamburg when he headed home.
