Pep Guardiola states that in the last two weeks, the Manchester City squad has received 71 medical treatments.
Manchester City's physios have treated 71 injuries in the last fortnight, according to Pep Guardiola.
City had a demanding fixture schedule during this time, meeting Atletico Madrid twice in the Champions League quarter-finals and playing Liverpool twice – once in the Premier League and once in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Guardiola admitted that his team's rigorous schedule has taken its toll before of their game against Brighton on Wednesday.
"I enjoy working with a large team; in my experience, as a member of major clubs for many years, we frequently arrive here fighting. If you want to fight, you must be physically fit "he stated.
"After an international break, we played Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, I'm not fond of 25 or 27 players. Otherwise, it's difficult to handle. I prefer 16, 17, and 18 all fit. I remember that in past seasons, we fought and won and were close; towards the conclusion of the season, the hunger was still there, and we were close.
"If it isn't a single game, but the next one and the next one, you may only have three days due to travel, rather than five or four. Between Atleti and the semi-final, our physios gave 71 treatments. True, 71. You'll be able to manage it if they say Kyle [Walker] is ready but hasn't played many minutes. When they say Kyle [Walker] is ready but hasn't played much, you can handle it because it was more tough, but you tell me how you compete."Despite the increased frequency of treatments in recent weeks, City's medical team has done an excellent job this season in managing the roster, with Guardiola rarely having to deal with repeated absences.
He'll need this strong form to continue as the season draws to a close, with City vying for both the Premier League and the Champions League titles.
