Wonder Victor Kutor, the President of the Ghana Law School's Students Representative Council (SRC), has been arrested.
This follows charges of financial mismanagement levelled against Mr Kutor.
The beleaguered SRC President has been accused of using his company's money to acquire a car for the SRC and another for personal use under dubious conditions.
He had already been requested to stand down awaiting the outcome of an independent inquiry into the subject.
His detention was reported in a statement signed by Safo Kwame Oheneba, the Secretary of the SRC.
The decision was made in line with Article 34(d) and (e) of the School's SRC constitution, according to the statement.
"The prohibition is based on a prima facie case produced by Mr Wonder's interrogation, among other things."
