The summer transfer season is rapidly approaching, but Chelsea is yet to confirm their new owners.

The new owners must be in place quickly so that they can begin planning any prospective business strategies for this time period, as well as whether they will be looking to buy or sell any players.

There are a number of players in Thomas Tuchel's squad who may believe that now is the appropriate moment to go on and seek a new challenge, so important decisions could be made in the coming months.Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is firmly established as the number two stopper behind Edouard Mendy, will undoubtedly be one of them. If he wants to advance his career and return to the Spain squad, he will almost certainly have to leave this summer.

When asked about it yesterday, Thomas Tuchel admitted that some candid conversations will take place.

"We must inquire of him, and we must be forthright with him." And, most importantly, he must be honest with us," Tuchel stated, as cited by Football London."He's still our player, and we have no idea what the ownership situation is like, what's doable and what's not." So, first and foremost, he is our player, and he is a terrific guy who can handle a circumstance like this, which is not easy for him.

"I sensed his disappointment during the Club World Cup, where he had a fantastic semi-final but was replaced in the final by Mendy. I could feel his displeasure, and I could even understand it, so we talked about it. I shared his sadness in the Carabao Cup final since he was the one who led us there and believed he deserved – and was correct – to participate in it. Still, we made the decision for Mendy."In these judgments, there's always a fine line to walk, and there's never a 100 percent reason to go against Kepa because he deserves it and we trust him." But when you go for someone [in goal], it's such an apparent choice that you can't play anyone else because goalie is the only position available. I believe it will have an impact on how he feels about it and how he sees it.

"Mendy is the best, and he deserves to be the best. I believe it is equally critical that a goalkeeper at this point in the season feels the same way. I've had other experiences at other places, and it's never really good when you have these open circumstances - perhaps a mistake."First and foremost, we must be honest with Kepa, and he must be totally engaged as he is; yesterday in training, he was simply wonderful." Then he must be truthful with us. Nothing needs to change for me because I adore him, and we need good goalkeepers because it is such an important position. But we'll have to think about it during the summer."
