Erik ten Hag has the opportunity to veto Manchester United's potential signing of Christopher Nkunku after Ralf Rangnick recommended the RB Leipzig star to the board.
The Red Devils are still to confirm the appointment of the Dutchman, but an announcement is expected imminently. Rangnick will take charge of the side until then, taking a consultancy role at the end of the season to help Ten Hag's summer rebuild.
There are expected to be wholesale changes at the club with Rangnick admitting there could be as many as ten new arrivals following their damaging 4-0 defeat by Liverpool on Tuesday night.
In his new role, the German will be aiding United on the recruitment front having been in a front-row seat to watch them during the second half of the season. The interim boss is not waiting around to carry out his new duties however as he gives advice to United's hierarchy on who they should target so they can get their business done as early as possible.

Nkunku is one name that has frequently cropped up given his prior relationship with Rangnick after he signed the winger for Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. And it seems a reunion could be on the cards as he has 'tipped off' United's scouts to check out the Frenchman, according to Bild.
The report states that United were not previously watching him until Rangnick pointed him out and now the Red Devils would like to pursue a deal for him in the summer, which could cost £60million. Ten Hag, though, will have the power to waive a potential move for Nkunku and any other transfer for that matter when he arrives at Old Trafford.
Rangnick was brutally honest about the seismic rebuild that is required at United following their dismal defeat at Anfield admitting there could be as many as ten signings in the upcoming window.
He said: "I am not blaming anyone, not my players nor anyone else, but we just have to realise what kind of squad they had available. Look at their bench, look at the four players who weren't even in the squad: Roberto Firmino was the only one who was injured. Oxlade-Chamberlain wasn't in the squad, Minamino was not in the squad, Harvey Elliott was not in the squad.
"This shows what kind of quality and team they have built together working with Jurgen and his team for the last six years."
He continued by stating: "If you analyse the situation, it's not that difficult to analyse. The team needs a rebuild, not because some players have to go but quite a few have no contracts anymore, their contracts are expiring
