PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE CHIEFS AND PEOPLE OF PUSIGA ON THE INVASION BY THE COMBINED TEAM OF MILITARY AND POLICE.
THE DETACHMENT AT THE PUSIGA CHIEF PALACE ON 16th MARCH,2022.

Distinguished members of the media fraternity, invited guests,ladies and gentlemen.
You are welcome to today’s press encounter in Pusiga.
The invasion of Pusiga which has been in existence for several centuries has always been peaceful and has never experience what happened yesterday by the security apparatus.
It is with the greatest disappointment that, we have gathered here today to address the unwaranted and unprofessional attack on the revered Pusiga Naba Tambisbaalug-Koweake and the ancient Pusiga skin on Wednesday, March16,2022.
Ladies and Gentlemen,a team of military and police personnel in about 10 armored vehicles with about70-armed military and police personnel led by the both the Upper East Regional military and police commanders invaded the Pusiga Naba palace at about 11:00am.
They surrounded the palace and ran sacked the rooms,cut open the ceiling in some of the rooms and vandalized sacred and some personal items. treated the palace as a crime scene and man handled it soccupants.
We are appaled by this development given that the security has always enjoyed some level of co-operation from our chiefs in their quest to safe guard the territorial integrity of Ghana’s borders and maintain peace.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we can not lose sight of the fact that the unprofessional conduct of the military goes inline with the predictions of some pseudo Facebook accounts fueling the Bawku conflict.
These sources have on several occasions stated how plans were advanced to break there salience of the Kusaasis by attacking key personalities like Naba Tambisbaalug- Koweake.
During the raid,the soldiers made some shocking statements claiming that they acted on their intelligence report. it is curious to note that close to 24hours after the shameful incident,no word has been heard from the military and police high command.
From the fore going therefore,we wish to state the following:
1.That Pusiga remains peaceful with no link to the disturbances in Bawku. The town is full of life and people are going about their normal duties.It is therefore sad to realize that the state security is trying hard to extend the conflict to Pusiga.
Whatever their motives are, we do not know. However, we wish to reassure the
people of Pusiga and Kusaug that the chief and his elders will continue to do everything to maintain the enviable peace we enjoy as people and defend Pusiga against any form of aggression.
2. We consider the action taken at the palace of our revered chief as an attack meant to embarrass the entire people of Pusiga and call for immediate unqualified apology from agencies.
3.The two state securities must adopt the use of modern inteligence gathering techniques and move away from the road side gossips that only leaves them eggshells on their faces like what happened in Pusiga yesterday.
4. We wish to remind the state security agencies that the people of Pusiga are citizens of Ghana and are entitled to state protection and not military brutality. We demand that the Rambo style raid be thoroughly investigated.
In conclusion, the chiefs and people of Pusiga dem and a 24-hour security protection of our revered chief and the ancient palace.
