ANDREAS CHRISTENSEN SUBBED BECAUSE OF INJURY, NOT COSTLY MISTAKE

Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel said he had taken off Andreas Christensen at halftime of their 4-2 loss by Arsenal on Wednesday since he couldn't proceed, not because of his mistake that prompted the guests' opener.

Arsenal got off the imprint when Eddie Nketiah jumped on a frail back pass by Christensen prior to opening past goalkeeper Edouard Mendy in the thirteenth moment of their Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.

Danish defender Christensen was then supplanted by Thiago Silva throughout the break.

"He said he can't proceed, so I think he had a few issues," Tuchel told correspondents. "I don't take a player out on the grounds that he commits one error.

"To say the pitch is hard to play here, it perhaps seems like a reason. In any case, it is an extremely, troublesome pitch that we have here. The ball skips clumsily before Andreas when he needs to play this ball.

"Yet, we had the very botch against Real Madrid that cost us the following round of the Champions League, and this one expense us the following match."

Christensen assumed the fault for the goal yet said Chelsea kept on committing errors even after Timo Werner had got them back on level conditions.

"I assume 100 percent liability on my shoulders for the primary goal, it was my misstep, however fortunately for me we got once more into the game rapidly through Timo's goal," Christensen said.

"We continued to commit errors however and continuing to return quickly is hard. We can fault ourselves for this outcome."

Chelsea stay third on 62 focuses, five focuses in front of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal having played one game less. They have West Ham United on Sunday.
