Dr. Louisa Ansong-Satekla, a dental surgeon, has encouraged people to get a diagnostic for their halitosis (poor breath) as soon as possible because it can be caused by a variety of things.

However, she emphasized that good oral hygiene will assist to prevent the problem.

Dr. Ansong Satekla was speaking to female detainees at the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons as part of a program organized by Fair Justice Initiative, a non-governmental organization dedicated to detainee care, in partnership with Charisma Dental, where she practices.

The event was held to honor World Oral Health Day.

Bad-smelling breath is the predominant symptom of halitosis, an oral health concern.

Garlic and onions, as well as poor dental hygiene, odour-causing bacteria on the tongue, periodontal disease, and dry mouth, are among the causes.
