The government has disbursed GH67,942,652.00 as a balance due for student meals at public institutes of education across the country.
This comes after the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) ordered teacher candidates to pay for their own food starting May 8, 2022.
The instruction was issued when colleges of education failed to pay for food supplies given to them over a period of time owing to a lack of finances from the government, according to PRINCOF.
However, the Ministry of Education's Public Relations Officer, Kwasi Kwarteng, has informed the public that government monies have been allocated to accommodate for the feeding of teacher trainees.
"Government, through the Ministry of Education, has given a sum of Ghc67,942,652.00 to the Colleges this afternoon."
