INJURY CRISIS AT BARCELONA DEEPENS: DEFENSIVE TRIO SUBBED OFF AGAINST SOCIEDAD

When Xavi initially came to Barcelona, he was in charge of one of the club's biggest injury problems in recent memory. Multiple players were unavailable due to injury or COVID, therefore the management was forced to rely on a number of fringe or B team players.

Only almost two months ago did Xavi finally have a fully fit squad at his disposal. The injury rate remained low as long as the team's dream run persisted. However, things are starting to get concerning.

Pedri is sidelined for the rest of the season after injuring his Biceps Femoris muscle last week. Sergi Roberto and Ansu Fati have both been declared out for several months, joining the youngster on the bench.

Xavi has stated that Pique is in pain as a result of his consistent minutes week in and week out. The Spaniard was out for Barcelona's past three games before returning tonight. However, it is reasonable to conclude that the veteran pressed his comeback in order to be available for his team, and he was forced to be substituted off after 80 minutes of play.

The Blaugranas were dealt two more blows against Real Sociedad. The first occurred in the 55th minute when Ronald Araujo collided with Alexander Isak after blocking his cross. The Uruguayan appeared to be in a lot of agonies and was quickly replaced by Eric Garcia.

Dani Alves collapsed under Raphinha's attack less than 10 minutes later and was unable to continue.

The extent of the trio's injuries is unknown. Their involvement in future games is uncertain, but it is reasonable to assume that they will be unavailable for the following game, which is just three days away.
