According to El Nacional, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti wants to invest the money set up for Erling Haaland on Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger. The Italian believes that the Whites' defence must be strengthened during the summer transfer window.

Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund has been connected with a number of European clubs in recent months. Manchester City and Real Madrid emerged as the final two finalists, according to El Nacional, with City edging out Los Blancos.

The player, who is expected to be available for €75 million this summer, has reportedly agreed to a €600,000-per-week contract, making him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.

With Haaland on the verge of joining Manchester United, Ancelotti has asked the club to use the money set aside for him on Chelsea's Rudiger. Los Blancos will not have to haggle with the Blues over the transfer cost because the German will be a free agent in the summer. His entourage, on the other hand, is expected to demand a large signing bonus as well as a substantial monthly income.

The player is unlikely to cut his pay, which is an issue for Florentino Perez, the club's president. Ancelotti, on the other hand, is sure that Rudiger is the player the team needs. Eder Militao and David Alaba are the only centre-back possibilities right now since the Italian maestro does not trust Nacho. Madrid would be able to cover that vacuum and have greater flexibility next season if they signed Rudiger.

The Chelsea defender, who is 29 years old, wants to play for Real Madrid and would gladly accept if his wage demands are met. All Los Blancos have to do now is take a portion of the money set aside in Haaland's name and invest it in the Chelsea midfielder.

Carlo Ancelotti wants to improve Real Madrid's full-back positions as well.

According to the same article, Ancelotti also wants to rearrange the full-back positions at the club. Los Blancos presently have Ferland Mendy and Marcelo at left-back. With the Brazilian's contract set to expire this summer, Madrid will be down to one left-back, Mendy.

Alaba, who previously played as a left-back for Bayern Munich, is expected to make a permanent switch to the left and become the team's first-choice left-back. Rudiger and Eder Militao would therefore play at the Madrid defense's heart. The former AC Milan coach is unhappy with Dani Carvajal's performances on the right wing and wants Chelsea's Reece James to replace him. Real Madrid are keeping an eye on Norwich's Max Aarons, Villarreal's Foyth, and Sporting's Pedro Porro, knowing how difficult it will be to sign James.
