Emile Smith receives a three-word verdict from Gary Lineker on his goal in Chelsea's game against Arsenal
Gary Lineker, a former Tottenham Hotspur striker, praised Arsenal's second goal against Chelsea.
Emile Smith Rowe's goal against Chelsea was described as "an absolute beauty" by Gary Lineker.
The Gunners took the lead in the 13th minute at Stamford Bridge thanks to Eddie Nketiah, a Hale End academy graduate who capitalized on a mistake by Danish center-back Andreas Christensen. The Blues, on the other hand, responded quickly through Timo Werner.
Werner fired a long-range shot that deflected off Granit Xhaka and caught Aaron Ramsdale off guard between the posts. Following an inch-perfect pass from talented playmaker Martin Odegaard, England international Emile Smith Rowe restored the away side's lead with a sublime first-time finish.
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Lineker was clearly impressed by the goal, and he took to social media to praise Mikel Arteta's team. "Worth staying up for @BBCMOTD for @Arsenal's 2nd goal," he wrote on Twitter. "She's stunning."
Jamie Redknapp, a former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, was also impressed by Arsenal's goal. "It's a lovely goal," he said during Sky Sports' coverage of the game. (Rob) Holding takes a risk first, and Granit Xhaka has steely nerves with that little nutmeg.
Odegaard made a great move to set up the move, and then they (Arsenal) moved. "(Bukayo) Saka enters and notices the possibility, and I believe Ruben Loftus-Cheek switches off just a little bit and does not see (Emile) Smith-Rowe run off the back of him, and the finish is just gorgeous. However, it is a difficult one. Players usually lean back or hit it over the bar, but he just guides it perfectly into the corner and gives the keeper no chance. "
Nonetheless, Thomas Tuchel's men responded five minutes later, thanks to captain Cesar Azpilicueta, who evaded Portuguese wingback Nuno Tavares before firing the ball past a helpless Ramsdale.
