Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, has urged the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources to suspend galamsey operations in Ewereko, a largely cocoa-growing hamlet in the Ellembelle district's Aiyinasi-North.

Current events at Ewereko, according to the former Minister of Petroleum and Energy, should concern every Ghanaian concerned about the country's future, particularly on issues of land, water, and food security.

When Mr Buah met with Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor, Sector Minister in Accra, he said this.

According to the MP, a gang of young males has been identified as being involved in the willful devastation of land in the cocoa-growing region through illicit mining.
