George Ayisi, the Public Relations Officer for the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has stated that the government has put in place certain preventive measures to limit the present flood rates in the nation.
According to him, the administration has identified several areas that would serve as "safe havens" for flood victims. He also noted that the government has started a flood sensitization initiative to educate and enlighten flood-prone communities about the need of such safe havens.
The sensitization initiative, he stated in an interview with eTVGhana's Samuel Eshun on the "Fact Sheet" programme, is also aimed to educate flood-prone communities on the need of clean surroundings.
"Those who live in flood-prone locations, we've discussed approaches coordinating with various assembly to conduct some desilting and certain precautionary measures," he added.
