Chelsea vs. Liverpool FA Cup final details revealed, including kick-off time and referee
Chelsea will face Premier League rivals Liverpool in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium next month, with the details of the match now being confirmed.
Chelsea will face Liverpool in the FA Cup final on Saturday, May 14, with all of the details confirmed ahead of the big game next month. The Premier League rivals will square off at Wembley Stadium after securing their place in the final earlier this month.
While the date has been confirmed, Thomas Tuchel's men have also been given some additional information. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m., and Craig Pawson will serve to oversee the match as referee.
In other news, the Blues have been informed of the colors they will be wearing for the match. Chelsea will wear their traditional yellow away kit, while Liverpool will wear their traditional red.
Tuchel will, of course, be hoping to lead the Blues to victory, as they have been disappointed on their last two FA Cup final appearances in the last two years. They were defeated by Arsenal during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, while Leicester City won at Wembley Stadium last season, with Youri Tielemans' wonder-strike proving the difference between the two teams.
Chelsea has defeated Chesterfield, Plymouth Argyle, Luton Town, Middlesbrough, and Premier League opponents Crystal Palace to reach this season’s final. Liverpool beat Shrewsbury Town, Cardiff City, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, and Manchester City on their way to the Wembley showpiece.
Surprisingly, the meeting under the arch next month is a rematch of this season's Carabao Cup final. Following a 0-0 tie after extra time, Liverpool won the game on penalties.
A number of Blues players have already stated their desire to exact revenge on Jurgen Klopp's men, which Tuchel supports.
"Good!," the German said earlier this week. Of course, we are aware of it. That was so close. It wasn't the previous season or two years ago. We lost a couple of weeks ago in the same stadium on a very similar occasion."
It's now an even bigger cup." Of course, it's a traditional cup, it has these similarities, and it appears that you can return. That's what it's all about in sports; if you lose to a team on such short notice, it's like saying, 'come on, let's turn things around quickly.' It doesn't matter if you call it vengeance or not. It's obvious that we all have a competitive spirit."
