Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice-President, has urged Christians and Muslims to live in peace in order to maintain the country's remarkable peace and stability in a turbulent area.

He said that the secret to Ghana's enviable position as the most peaceful country in West Africa and the second most peaceful country in Africa was religious unity shown at all levels of society, from the home to all aspects of national life.

Last Thursday, at the Iftar, or breaking of the Muslim fast, the Vice-President made the call to a gathering of Muslim clerics and followers at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The 19th day of Ramadan fasting has arrived. Iftar is the time when Muslims can eat and drink.
