Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, has made an impassioned plea to Africans to welcome Afro-descendants and engage with the African Diaspora.
Dr. Bawumia stressed the unbreakable link between Africa and its descendants, their potential contributions to the development of the African continent, and the need to continue to open doors for them back to their roots at a High Level Diasporan Forum organised by the UNFPA in Accra on Friday, April 22.
"No matter where they are from, Afro-descendants are Africans. You are an African if you are a black man or woman, regardless of your nationality." To stress the representational significance of Afro-descendants to Africa on a global basis, Dr. Bawumia remarked.
