Following the disastrous floods in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal state, the African Union (AU) has given $150,000 (£115,000) to relief operations.

The floods that swept across the province last week killed around 440 people.

The floodwaters also wreaked havoc on infrastructure.

Moussa Faki Mahamat, head of the African Union Commission, announced the contribution, saying the body reiterated its support for South Africa during "this difficult moment."
