After a torrential downpour accompanied by a storm caused havoc over the area in the Akatsi South Municipality, scores of people of Avenorpeme and its neighbouring areas have been forced homeless.
According to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the strong downpour pulled off the roofs of around 20 houses in the Avenorpeme Zone, displacing inhabitants without causing any fatalities or injuries.
Avenorpeme Vocational Training Institute, Sesime, Adonai International Academy, and the Zonal Council's administrative office were among the other structures and regions impacted.
Mr Peter Hovey Agbaga, the area's Assembly member, told GNA that several victims, notably the elderly, were presently seeking sanctuary with friends and relatives.
He urged authorities, particularly the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the United Nations, to act quickly.
