Nobody should die from tuberculosis (TB), according to Mr Joseph Kwami Degley, Ketu South Municipal Director of Health Services, because the infectious illness is treatable and preventive.
He stressed the need of patients reporting to health institutions when they start coughing up phlegm for diagnosis in order to enable for early discovery and treatment, noting that waiting too long might be fatal.
The Municipal Director, addressing at the start of the Volta Regional TBImpact-Ghana Project in Wudoaba, Ketu South Municipality, stressed that no one should die from tuberculosis (produced by germs that most often attack the lungs) when treatment is free and accessible.
"If somebody dies of tuberculosis now, we may assume that the person has made the decision to die."
