700,000 Ghanaian employees consume 52 percent of the country's earnings, according to Deputy Finance Minister Dr John Ampontuah Kumah.
According to him, 700,000 out of 13.5 million public employees receive a significant portion of the money, but they grumble that it is insufficient.
His remark comes after the Trades Union Congress (TUC) urged the government to evaluate public sector salaries in order to alleviate the consequences of rising prices on workers.
Mr Kumah denounced the demands of the labour unions in an interview on JoyNews' Newsfile on Saturday.
