Jesse Lingard appeared to corroborate that the Manchester United dressing room was a "disaster" in a recent conversation with Paul Scholes, according to Scholes. The 47-year-old former England international spoke to DAZN ahead of United's Premier League match against Arsenal. He made over 700 appearances for United during a trophy-laden 20-year spell at Old Trafford.

On Saturday, Ralf Rangnick's side dropped additional points in the race for a top-four berth when Mikel Arteta's side won 3-1 with goals from Nuno Tavares, Bukayo Saka, and Granit Xhaka. After Arsenal established a two-goal lead in the first half, Cristiano Ronaldo managed to claw one back, but it wasn't enough as United continue to struggle in the league.Scholes, who has never shied away from expressing his dissatisfaction with the club's dismal play this season, ripped into United in the build-up to the game, even revealing a recent chat with United midfielder Jesse Lingard.

Scholes told DAZN prior of kickoff, "It's a disaster of a locker room." "I had a little conversation with Jesse (Lingard) the other day, and I'm sure he won't mind me stating... the dressing room is a complete wreck." In his post-match interview, Ralf Rangnick was asked if the dressing room is a disaster after Scholes' words became public."They've come a long way, and it's horrible to watch." But that is where the club is right now.

"They have to put in a little bit of effort only for the supporters who are coming to the stadium." After a disappointing season, it is increasingly likely that United will finish with their lowest Premier League points total ever.

Erik ten Tag will be seeking to turn things around at Old Trafford when he takes over at the conclusion of the season, and he revealed his desire to succeed after being named manager earlier this week.

He told the club's official website, "It is a great pleasure to be appointed manager of Manchester United, and I am hugely enthused by the job ahead."

"I am totally committed to produce a team capable of delivering the success they deserve, knowing the history of this wonderful club and the enthusiasm of the fans." It looks increasingly likely that United will pick up their lowest ever Premier League points total after a lacklustre campaign.

Erik ten Tag will be looking to turn things around at Old Trafford when he takes over at the end of the season and after being announced as manager earlier this week, he revealed his ambition to succeed.

"It is a great honour to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead," he told the club's official website.

"I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve."
