Former President John Dramani Mahama attended a one-week memorial ceremony for the late former First Lady, Mrs Emily Akuffo, with her family, well-wishers, and mourners over the weekend.
Emily Akuffo was the wife of Lieutenant General Fred Akuffo (dead), Ghana's previous Head of State who led the Supreme Military Council from 1978 to 1979, according to a statement released by the Office of the Former President.
The one-week service was held in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (Christ Church) in Akropong, Eastern Region, according to the statement.
Former President Mahama was accompanied by Mr Julius Debrah, a former Chief of Staff, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr George Opare Addo, the NDC's National Youth Organiser, and Mr Victor Smith, a former National Security Advisor.
